Kid Rock Could Become Michigan’s Next Senator

Kid Rock May Challange Debbie Stabenow for Michigan’s Seat for U.S. Senate

Kid Rock, the country-rap music star, has been teasing the idea that he could be in the running for Michigan’s next senator. Robert Ritchie, Kid Rock’s real name, took it to social media after pretty much everyone in the press mocked his run for senate.

Kid Rock created the website,, announcing his possible interest in running Michigan Senate in 2018. The doesn’t offer much besides a sign up for for updates and a link to his “Kid Rock for U.S. Senate” web store.

Since nothing has been filed with the FEC (Federal Election Commission) a lot of people in the media are questioning how serious he is. Kid Rock has fired back in a statement on his website. It sounds like he knows what he is talking about with this quote:

“First of all, I’ve got 15 days from my announcement to file paperwork with the FEC!”

He took it one step further and followed the post with another of an image that seems to describe his political platform.

“I believe if you work your butt off and pay taxes, you should be able to easily understand and navigate the laws, tax codes, health care and anything else the government puts in place that affects us all.”

Can Kid Rock Really Win a Senate Election?

If Kid Rock is serious, it won’t be easy for him to win. He would be running against incumbent Democrat, Debbie Stabenow who has held the Senate position since 2001. Stabenow replied to the news with a tweet.

It would no doubt be interesting to see Kid Rock come out to “Bawitadaba” on the campaign trial, but still many doubt his political views. That doesn’t mean he can’t win!

If recent political campaigns have taught us anything, it is that the least likely candidate could end up the winner. At the very least he will stir the Michigan political pot and the Democrats we’ll have to take him serious.

How serious are you taking Kid Rock’s possible run for Michigan Senator? Do you think more celebrities or personalities will start to make political runs?
